I love polkas and I grew up playing for polka set dances in my home county Waterford. The first polka I learnt from my neighbour Sean O’Brien, a great box player and friend for many years. The second I got from the playing of the great Denis Doody from Ballydesmond. The last tune is a Sliabh Luachra version of the popular song ‘I’ll tell me Ma’, I picked this up from another good friend from Kilcummin, Co.Kerry, the box maestro Conor Moriarty.
